CANADA IMMIGRATION FSW PROGRAM

The Canada Immigration Program, officially known as the Canadian Express Entry system, is a points-based immigration system designed to manage the selection of economic immigrants to Canada. The program aims to attract skilled workers, professionals, and tradespeople from around the world who can contribute to the country’s economy and workforce.

Express Entry has three main economic immigration categories:

  •  Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP): This program is for skilled workers with foreign work experience who intend to live in any province or territory in Canada, except Quebec. Applicants must meet certain eligibility criteria, including language proficiency, education level, work experience, and adaptability factors. Points are awarded based on these factors, and the highest-ranking candidates are invited to apply for permanent residency through regular Express Entry draws.
  • Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP): This program is designed for skilled tradespeople who have at least two years of full-time work experience in a skilled trade within the five years before applying. Applicants must also meet specific language and education requirements, among other criteria.
  • Canadian Experience Class (CEC): This category is for individuals who have gained skilled work experience in Canada on a temporary work permit. To be eligible for the CEC, applicants must have at least one year of Canadian work experience in a skilled occupation and meet language and other requirements.

The Express Entry process involves the following steps:

Step 1 : Create an Express Entry Profile – Candidates interested in immigrating to Canada through one of the three programs mentioned above must create an online profile. They provide information about their age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and other relevant factors.

Step 2 : Obtain Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) Score – Based on the information provided in the profile, candidates are assigned a CRS score. Points are awarded for various factors, such as age, education, work experience, language proficiency, and adaptability.

Step 3 : Receive an Invitation to Apply (ITA) – In regular Express Entry draws, candidates with the highest CRS scores are invited to apply for permanent residency in Canada. If a candidate receives an ITA, they have a limited time to submit a complete application for permanent residency.

Step 4 : Apply for Permanent Residency – Once an ITA is received, candidates must submit a complete application, including supporting documents and required fees.

Step 5 : Application Assessment – Canadian immigration authorities review the application to ensure it meets all eligibility requirements and admissibility criteria.

Step 6 : Receive Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR) – If the application is approved, the candidate receives a Confirmation of Permanent Residence (COPR). This document allows them to travel to Canada and become a permanent resident.

CANADA INTERNATIONAL MOBILITY PROGRAM

The Canada International Mobility Program (IMP) is a government initiative that facilitates the entry of foreign workers into Canada to support the country’s economic and social objectives. It provides employers with the ability to hire foreign workers more quickly and easily under certain circumstances. The IMP is distinct from the Temporary Foreign Worker Program (TFWP) and allows for faster processing times and certain exemptions from Labor Market Impact Assessments (LMIA), which are typically required for other temporary foreign workers.

The IMP includes several work permit categories, each with its own specific requirements:

  • Intra-Company Transfers: This category allows multinational companies to transfer their employees to a Canadian branch, subsidiary, or affiliate without the need for an LMIA. Workers transferred under this category usually hold specialized knowledge or executive/managerial positions.
  • International Experience Canada (IEC): This program provides opportunities for young people from countries that have a bilateral youth mobility arrangement with Canada to obtain an open work permit. The IEC includes three categories: Working Holiday, Young Professionals, and International Co-op (Internship).
  • Global Talent Stream (GTS): The GTS is part of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program but is expedited and employer-driven. It aims to attract skilled foreign workers in certain high-demand occupations to support Canadian businesses in their innovation and growth.
  • Mobilité Francophone: This initiative promotes French-speaking immigration outside of Quebec. It allows employers in provinces and territories outside of Quebec to hire francophone temporary foreign workers more easily without an LMIA.
  • Significant Benefit Work Permit: This category is for foreign workers whose employment in Canada brings significant social, cultural, or economic benefits to the country, and who may not fit under other existing programs.
  • Research, Academic, and Exchange Personnel: This category allows research, academic, and exchange personnel to work in Canada without an LMIA, provided they meet certain eligibility criteria.

The Canada International Mobility Program is continually evolving, and different provinces or territories may have additional streams or specific requirements for their regions. Employers interested in hiring foreign workers under the IMP should carefully review the specific criteria for each category to ensure compliance with immigration regulations.

CANADA STUDY VISA

Obtaining a Canada student visa, also known as a study permit, allows international students to pursue their educational aspirations at Canadian educational institutions. To apply for a Canada student visa, follow these general steps:

  • Obtain a Letter of Acceptance: First, you must apply and be accepted by a Designated Learning Institution (DLI) in Canada. Once accepted, the institution will issue a Letter of Acceptance, which is a crucial document for your study permit application.
  • Check Eligibility: Review the eligibility criteria for a study permit to ensure you meet the requirements. Factors such as financial capability, academic qualifications, and a clean criminal record are some of the key considerations.
  • Gather Required Documents: Prepare all the necessary documents, including but not limited to:
    • A valid passport
    • Proof of sufficient funds to cover tuition fees, living expenses, and return transportation
    • Passport-sized photographs
    • Letter of Acceptance from a DLI
    • Immigration Medical Examination (IME) results, if required
    • Statement of purpose explaining your study plans in Canada
    • Any other documents requested based on your specific circumstances
  • Apply Online or Through a Visa Application Center (VAC): Most study permit applications are submitted online through the Immigration, Refugees, and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) website. However, some countries may require applicants to apply through a Visa Application Center. Check the Canadian government website for your country-specific application process.
  • Pay the Application Fee: There is a processing fee for the study permit application, which must be paid when submitting the application.
  • Biometrics Appointment (if applicable): Some applicants may need to provide their biometrics (fingerprints and photograph) at a local Visa Application Center.
  • Wait for a Decision: After submitting your application, wait for the visa processing time. The processing time varies depending on the applicant’s country of residence.
  • Receive Approval and Travel to Canada: If your study permit application is approved, you will receive a Port of Entry (POE) Letter of Introduction. This letter allows you to travel to Canada, where you will present it to the border officer along with your travel documents. The officer will issue your study permit at the port of entry.
  • Comply with Study Permit Conditions: Once in Canada, make sure to follow the conditions of your study permit, such as maintaining full-time enrollment, refraining from unauthorized work, and renewing the permit if necessary.
